Baked Brown Sugar Body Scrub
As you know, I am very much into making organic facial scrubs and hand scrub sugars. I wanted to make something for my whole body. On Christmas day, when I was at my Grandma Biggs's house, my future aunt Aimee mentioned that a friend of her's bakes her homemade body scrubs. I had to try it out. This is all my own recipe. I use it in the shower now almost every day. It's not good to exfoliate everyday, but it wouldn't hurt to do it everyday for a week and then settle it down after that. Like to maybe 2 to 3 times only a week. I don't use it while the water is running, I turn it off while I scrub, and then rinse. It's a very easy, simple recipe. It smells wonderful and won't harm your skin, unless your skin is super sensitive.
Here is what you will need:
~About 4 cups of brown sugar
~About 1 teaspoon or a little over a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
~About 1 Tablespoon or a little over a Tablespoon of milk
~About 1/2 teaspoon of Sea Salt (Any sea :))
~A dash of NUTMEG (So about 1/2 teaspoon)
~A dash of cinnamon (Again, about 1/2 teaspoon)
~About 1 Tablespoon of pure honey.
Here is how:
Mix together 2 cups of brown sugar in a mixing bowl, along with the sea salt; vanilla; nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix them all together, and make sure everything is moistened by the vanilla.
If you like the consistency of it at this point, you can stop. It looks like a nice scrub for gifts at this point, and even if you move on, it will still be lovely. It just looks a little more grainy and most body scrubs look like that, up above.
Next, add the milk in. It will make this a little sloshy and liquidy. But that is totally fine. Mix the milk in with the scrub.
What I did at this point, was I used some of the brown sugar (Some of the 2 cups left, But I just sprinkled some out of the bag) to thicken it up a little bit. I had to put the milk in the scrub because milk is a natural lightener. It lightens the skin and evens the skin tone. When red spots come up, like from dryness or sleep, I wash my face with milk and it comes out even. Just a little tip. Washing your face with straight up milk also softens your face.
Next, I scooped it all into an 8x8 square pan and once it was smoothed inside the pan, I squeezed a little bit of honey over it, then mixed it in the pan and smoothed it again.
BAKE! Bake at 230 degrees for 15 minutes.
When it's done baking, immediately start stirring it up. It will be liquidy, and that is totally fine as well. Just stir it!
Add in some more brown sugar to make it thicker. It will make a difference.
and Viola!
The candle is a holiday candle from Bath and Body Works, it is called Fresh Balsam. Bath and Body Works always have amazing sales during the Holidays, so I picked up a few of those little candles for $2.00 each! And so much more.
Not rough on the skin, but kind of harsh on your face, so I would use this only on my body. Hope you enjoy it!
