Happy Easter (2013)

Happy Easter!
This Easter holiday was a fabulous once, and a fantastic end to a drab Spring break.
A few days ago, I wasn't really looking forward to Easter. Don't know why. Holidays come and go for me. When today finally got here, it turned out to be a lot of fun and I was going to have a fun day. I started my Easter by making the Cake Batter Brownies, I made them as a dessert to take over to my Grandma Biggs's house for part of the Easter feast. I thought they were fabulous! They were super easy to make, and super yummy. I only got feedback from one person, my sister who said they were great. I hope everyone else thought they were great too.
After that was about done, my sister came home from a long four days of camping with her friend and her friend's family. I was actually really excited to have her home. She told us about her trip, and fun little stories she had to tell. Then my mom brought out our Easter baskets and there were tons of candy and another surprise... a MASON JAR CUP! I think I screamed when I first saw it. It is pretty adorable, and I hardly set it down today. I drank my water out of it the whole day... I hope my Camelbak doesn't get jealous...
I was so excited about it. Still pretty jazzed.
I immediately washed it out with baking soda and vinegar, and filled up with ice water. I looove it! It's so perfect for me!
After obsessing over my new cup calmed a little, we all started getting ready to go. I knew a few days prior exactly what I was going to wear. A white dress with a little jean jacket thing to wear and my cowgirl boots. I also thought about curling my hair, but curling my hair takes a century and always comes uncurled within 30 minutes of having my hair curled, I didn't want to deal with that, so I sprunched it and tousseled it with water, toussel mouse and gel. Of course I had to incorporate my mason jar cup in with my pictures. I look like a total bumpkin.
We left for my Grandma and Grandpa Biggs for a late lunch feast. I couldn't wait for ham and all the goodies. My Grandma Biggs is quite the chef. I think I get my love of cooking and baking from her. She makes delicious everything and always has such a pretty table. I always take pictures of her table. Such lovely spreads, always.
She even had "red neck" wine glasses. Just mason jars glued to a candle stick. I loooved those!
We had ham, pork roast, potatoes, yams, rolls, a fruit salad, veggies, hard boiled eggs, peas, so much food and all so delicious!
We sat and talked while we ate, as always. I love dinners over at Grandma Biggs's house.
After we were done eating, I helped my Grandma clean up, and put the left overs in the fridge. I was telling her my latest interests in midwifery and the little facts I have picked up. She was really fascinated and I taught her something new today! She was really fascinated by what I had to say. I love talking to her.
My dad and Grandpa Biggs went outside with a grocery bag of plastic Easter eggs... of course they hid them around the yard. I was disappointed because last year, we didn't have an egg hunt. This year, we had a major egg hunt. My dad said that it would be "challenging", it wasn't too challenging until the very last egg we had to find. My dad waited for at least 15 minutes of us searching and searching for the last egg and he gave us a hint. Brittney ended up finding it.
It was fun. Most of the eggs had money inside them, some had chocolate... which some of the chocolate had melted slightly. It was a beautiful sunny day! Let the chocolate melt for the awesome chance of sun!
We sat around after the egg hunt and we talked and waited for my aunt Aimee and uncle Randy to get there for dessert. There was talk of playing Yahtzee, but we never got around to it. When aunt Aimee and uncle Randy did get there, I was so excited! Aunt Aimee joined the girls to talk. It was a lot of fun! I felt very informational. :)
We talked for a little while, I was hoping for dessert soon because I was excited for everyone to try my creation. My mom also made an orange cicle cake and that was actually pretty good too!
My Grandma had an idea to put the eggs on top of the cake to give it a little more 'oomph'.
During dessert, the family talked. We talked about college plans and Brittney's trip to Washington DC that is coming up in May. I want to go back to Washington DC. It was a really fun trip, and I'd love to go back there someday.
This year's Easter was a ton of fun! I always enjoy my time that I get to spend with my family. I am very grateful for that.
