Earth Day Tasty Treats

I made use of recycling quite a bit today. I used box mix everything. Box mix of Pillsbury white cake mix, box mix of Betty Crocker brownies, box mix of chocolate pudding. I doctored them up though! I had a busy agenda today, with all the crafts and having it be my great-grandfather's 91st birthday today! A lot was going on, so box mixes were the best bet. I made two different Earth Day treats today. I made Earth cupcakes or Globe cupcakes, whatever you'd like to call them, and I made an Earth Worm Dirt Terrarium. So cute!

~1 box of white cake mix

~blue food coloring

~green food coloring

~1/2 can of buttercream/white/vanilla frosting

~cupcake liners

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Make the white cake mix according to the directions on the box. Separate the cake mix into two separate bowls, separate evenly. In one bowl, make the cake mix blue, and in the other bowl, make the cake mix green. Take a spoon and spatula  and alternate the colors in a cupcake liner. Make it look like the world in the cupcake liner, so do both blue and green. Once all the cupcake liners are filled with both blue and green batter, bake for 13-16 minutes. Once they are done, let them cool. While they are cooling, take the frosting and separate it into separate bowls. Make one bowl the 'blue' bowl and the other bowl the 'green' bowl. Mix in the food coloring and decorate the cupcakes like the earth.

I wanted to show everyone what they looked on the inside. All swirly with green and blue. 

Here are my cousins gobbling up their cupcakes. I made mini cupcakes with the left over blue batter.  I had left over blue batter, so I made mini cupcakes with them. I gave the mini cupcakes to my little cousin, Raelyn. Isabelle and I had the bigger cupcakes. 

The next tasty treat I made were the Earth Worms and Dirt Terrarium. They are so cute, and tasty. I had the little Kerr jars, so I made them with those. The perfect size for a mini serving, and on the go with the lids. Isabelle took her's home to eat the rest there.

~1 box of Betty Crocker fudge brownies

~1 package of regular Oreos

~gummy worms

~1 larger package (makes 6 1/2 cups servings) Jell-o brand chocolate pudding

~3 cups fat-free milk

First, make the brownies according the instructions on the back. Then make the pudding, according the instructions on the box, use the fat free milk for that. Once brownies and pudding are ready, cut a circular piece of brownie out of the pan, and put it on the bottom of the jar. Next, put the next layer in, the next layer will be pudding. Crush up Oreos and add that on top of the first pudding layer.  Add in some gummy worms, and add in another layer of pudding on top of the the gummy worms. Put on another layer of brownie, and crush up some more Oreos and sprinkle them on top of the brownie.  To add finishing touches to the dirt cake, place gummy worms on top of the Oreo layer.

I learned today that my cousin, Isabelle doesn't like gummy worms... :(

So we made a worm-less dirt cake for her.

We took ours outside and ate our dirt cake outside.
