Farmer's Market Finds~Lavender

This is the third entry of my adventure at the Vancouver Farmer's Market. Let me just say that it was splendid! I found an array of natural skin care, was educated on the health benefits of bee products, and fulfilled my goal of purchasing lavender products. 

The Vancouver Farmer's market is pretty good in size, offering homegrown and handmade items such as journals made from vintage books, a plethora of veggies, an array of soaps, and even art pieces. A Farmer's market isn't a market without food vendors. We spotted a mini doughnut stand, and had to purchase 6 mini doughnuts. (We didn't HAVE to, I guess... we wanted to for sure though.)

My favorite was the mini doughnut with cream cheese and a big blackberry on top. 

We also got our picture taken with Mr. Vancouver. 

In this post, I am going to talk about my purchases from Laurie's Lavender. I am so excited about my lavender purchases! The first thing I purchased from Laurie's lavender was a lavender bouquet. Lavender provides aromatherapy and beauty! This was the only thing I wanted at first. I bought it, and then left.

Seconds later, I decided to go back and look at her other products. I left too soon without even looking at her other products. I'm so glad I went back. I looked at her other products, she had lovely sachets, a couple different types of lavender essential oil, she had lavender plants and pillows, she had those things where you put them in the microwave and they will stay warm for a while, and you put them on achy parts of your body.

I ended up purchasing some lavender essential oil and a pack of laundry sachets. 

If you know me well, you know that I absolutely love essential oils, so finding lavender essential oil that was under $10 was a great find! I use my lavender essential oil for so many things! I have made a facial toner with it, I have made a linen spray with it, I have used it in my hair. Lavender essential oil is wonderful for your hair. It helps moisturize your scalp, and keeps your hair from shredding. I moisturizes every stand of hair and of course makes your hair smell fabulous. Now, essential oils of any kind can be harsh and very powerful, and so it is important to know how to use them, when to use them, and what to use them on. I do extended research on essential oils so I know how to use them safely. To use the lavender essential oil in your hair, just use two to three drops in with a carrier oil. You can use coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, and even cocoa butter, just massage the lavender essential oil infused carrier oil to massage your scalp and ends, wash it out with shampoo and conditioner. 

I am going to buy real linen spray from Laurie's Lavender soon, but until then, I made an alcohol free linen spray! I just added a few drops of lavender essential oil to about 3 ounces of water and I put it in a spray bottle. I spray my pillow each night before I go to bed and it helps me sleep. I also spray it on my scalp and use a comb to comb it through my hair. I really love it! 

I made the toner with lavender tea, a two drops of lavender essential oil, witch hazel, and just a few flakes of Farm Maid's Skin So Clear soap. I made the lavender tea with a few of the lavender cuts from the bouquet I bought from Laurie. I used the tea to drink as well, and it is delightful in both cold and hot temperatures. 

The lavender essential oil was a great buy! 

Another great buy from Laurie was the fantastic laundry sachets. I haven't thrown them in my dryer yet, but I have used one and I put it by my pillow at night, it helps me sleep. I will post when I use it in the dryer, and I will tell you how it works out. I am so excited to have my clothes smelling of lavender. 

The fabric that Laurie used to make these sachets is absolutely beautiful. Lavender is my favorite color, and it certainly appealing to my eye.

Having a chance to talk to each vendor at the farmers market was wonderful. They were all so friendly and so helpful. It definitely makes it so I want to come back and purchase more of their products.
