Back to School

I am writing this later in the evening, due to the new schedule and the new school life that I have to adapt to. It is back to school time, and not just "school", but COLLEGE. Yesterday was pretty low key, I went to school, found a parking space, and found my classes easily. I met some interesting people, and had a great day. Today was also considered my first day. My first day of chemistry, which is my only class on Tuesdays & Thursdays. My chemistry class starts at 10:30, and I felt like I had arrived in a timely matter to school, and other people had the same exact thoughts. I spent twenty minutes circeling the campus's many parking lots, following and being followed by other cars who were in the same boat that I was in: not being able to find one single parking space. The clock was ticking, I had to be in class in about 10 minutes, and no parking space. NONE! I ended up having to park in a side street, and cross a street to get on the campus, then I had to find my class, and I ended up being about three minutes late to my class. I am so glad that I was not the only one though.

Chemistry class seems like it will be rigorous, as I expected it to be, but I think I will be able to handle it, especially since I have taken two college medical courses, I have some terminology experience, so I believe that will help me. In class today, we played the "name game", it felt very elementary, but it help us get acquainted with a few of our classmates. I was able to leave at 12:30 today, as Tuesdays are not my lab days, Thursdays are, however, my lab days.
The rest of the day was spent purchasing the necessary supplies for my classes, and my mom and I were driving all over the place looking for high fire clay. We finally found some, and now I have 20 lbs of clay in the trunk of my car, just waiting to be created into something beautiful. Among the clay, I purchased my other supplies. I purchased an eBook for my Anthropology class, and read the first chapter, which took about three hours.
Oh, that is not the only page of notes I took. I took about three more pages of notes for that chapter one. It was actually a very interesting read. I am excited to go deeper into this course.

Needless to say, I am exhausted. But I had to get this post out because blogging is still a priority to me, and this college experience is worth documenting. I am sure that once I get a little bit organized, and deeper into my classes, my schedule will mold, and I won't feel so scatter-brained... hopefully.

And I thought my first day of freshmen year was difficult. It was more scary than anything, transitioning from a class of 18 students in my 8th grade clasd, to a school of 1800. It was a very scary few days until I found my way around the school, and learned to dodge the traffic of the halls. College isn't scary like that, it is just really intense, and you have to learn not to spread yourself too thin.

So Back to School, something that I have a love/hate relationship with. I have just entered a very intense part of my life. Thank you adulthood.

  1. Ah, first day of Freahman college...so exciting! I lived on campus my freshman year and I remember riding around with my friend Leah on our bikes, figuring out where all our classes were. I didn't take my car up there until after Thanksgiving and the parking was always a nightmare!
