Daily Make-up Routine

As a follow up to the Daily Skincare Routine, I am doing a daily make-up routine. This will be a little longer of a post, as I explain my process, but this routine takes me about 7-9 minutes to do, depending on how perfect I get my eyeliner the first time. :)
Putting myself on my blog, for everyone to see me without my makeup makes me a little vulnerable. People tell me I don't need make-up, but very few times I believe them. Also, applying make-up is super fun and girly. Who's with me on that? I finally met up with one of my very best friends, Tara yesterday. We were talking about make-up, and how much fun it is just play with. Those dolls merge into brushes, blushes, and shadows and girls grow into young women.
To begin, I always wash my face and do my whole skincare routine before putting on make-up. You should never make up an unclean face.
In the above photo, I actually am wearing my primer and BB cream to begin the making up process. I begin with a primer from Smashbox. Their clear, Photo-Finish primer helps the BB Cream go on so much better. I use the All-In-One BB Cream from The Body Shop. I love that it goes on smooth, especially over the primer. It doesn't make my face oily, and it is a vegetarian product. I try to find organic or quality facial make-up because I don't like putting cheap stuff on my face that will just clog my pores. So, The Body Shop BB Cream is absolutely wonderful! It has color-change technology, so it matches to your skin tone.
The next step is powder. I use a color correcting powder from Physicians Formula. It is not a CC powder, but it does have a green swirl in the powder that aids in coloring correcting. It my favorite powder! I have been using it for years. It is perfect, and totally airbrushes your face, that is if you are using an actual powder brush. After powder, I use Benefit's Pore-Fessional to help hide what I think are larger pores. My larger pores are are around my sinus area, so I lightly dab and spread the pore-fessional on the areas around my nose, and it totally minimizes pores. The Pore-Fessional is magic.
I then brush the apples of my cheeks with Benefit's Dandelion blush. Their Dandelion blush has such a delicate scent. I want a lotion or a perfume to made out of that scent. The shade of the Dandelion blush is the perfect color for me. It adds just a touch, because sometimes the BB Cream and the PF powder make me look washed out. The blush helps in looking alive.
Now that my face is made up, it is time for the eyes. I start with an e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip. Bear with me. I bought the e.l.f. Facial Whip as a last minute highlighter for prom. I didn't use it for a while after that, but then I was curious as to what it would look like on my eyelids. I experimented a bit and instead of throwing it out because I don't really like to use highlighters, I decided to use it as a eye shadow primer, and it totally works! I understand that e.l.f. does have an eye shadow primer, but frankly, I like how the e.l.f. works. It does the job of keeping my eye shadow where it needs to be, so I don't bat an eye about it. After I prime my eyelids, I use a "stardust" color for my eyelids. Next, I use a darker, orchid color (#3) from Too Faced's Candy Bar palette for my crease. I use a blending eye shadow brush to make the shadow look presentable, and not just quicklu brushed on the crease. If you are going to wear eye shadow, you have to put a little elbow grease in to make it look good. After the crease, I use an ivory shade for the brow bone. I learned how to do my eyes from Cara VanBrocklin. :) It is then time for the eyeliner step, and I use a vegan, gel eyeliner from The All Natural Face. I have been using this eyeliner for years, and I will never stop. It is my absolute favorite.
Mascara is always my very last step in the making up process. It is like the last loop of a race to victory.  :) I use a mascara from the Sephora Collection, it is an awesome mascara with the technology to curl the lashes without having to use those bothersome eyelash curlers. To be truthful, eyelash curlers break your eyelashes. The day I got this mascars, I threw away my eyelash curler, never to be used again. This amazing mascara is called Outrageous Curl, and I love, love, love it.
My daily make-up routine is pretty simple, to me at least. It still lets me dabble in my eye shadows, while I still sport it a pretty natural look. Again, this routine takes about 7 minutes for me to go through. I am not a fan of spending 20 minutes on my make-up. I do not need all of that fuss for a simple, daily make-up routine. ;)

Happy Saturday, folks! I hope everyone has a splended weekend!
