Massage. IKEA. Yo Cream.

The days that I gallivant around with my Grandma are usually the most fun. Today, we went on all-day adventure, beginning at 9:00 in the morning. A little while back, my Grandma Biggs told me that she had gift certificates for a free 30 minute massage. We decided to go today, and it ended up being at a chiropractic clinic up in Vancouver, WA. To be honest, I thought it was going to be at a spa, but I really enjoyed the massage. I was a little nervous about a full on massage, like getting undressed and being covered up by towels, I have never done that before. I was a little nervous about it, but once we got there, and they showed us what we were actually doing, I felt better. I stayed clothed, and I laid down on this table. Half of the table was filled with water, and it warmed it up, and there was massagers in the table. It felt good! It was nice! My grandma and I kept asking each other throughout the day if we had felt any effects from the massage, and we both said no. Maybe I will feel some of the effects tomorrow. After the massage, we meandered to a near by Shari's, and had a bite to eat. We caught up on each others' lives and talked over quiche and coffee. We are both clueless to the Vancouver area, so we decided to go back to Portland to spend the rest of our day. I spotted IKEA, and told my Grandma that we should stop there.
My Grandma was a little overwhelmed with the place, and IKEA is so big that it can indeed be overwhelming. What I like about it is the simplicity of their designs, and the furniture. There is a lot to look at, but what makes things fun and a little bit easier to shop is the fact that they have room and home displays. What I mean by home displays is that IKEA shows off these homes, very small homes, less than 600 square feet. They are the perfect size when you utilize the space you are given. It made me excited about apartment living in Florida when I move.
My favorite part of IKEA was the kiddo section, where all of the kiddo bed frames, and cribs, and toys were at. I often think too far into my future, but I can't help it. Kiddo things are fun to look at. Anyway, there was this room they had set up, and it is the kid's room of my dreams! Complete with a sunshine light, and veggie plushies. Seriously so cute, and a great added bonus, it is a neutral room,it can be for both boys or girls with a few minor tweaks here and there.
I almost bought this elephant plushie. I have no use for it but to hug it, squeeze it, and carry it around with me everywhere. I love elephants, they are my favorite. I decided that I will get the elephant later in life. But oh man, I wanted that little guy so bad. We looked at the stuffies that IKEA had for kiddos, they were so soft and cuddly. I am excited to have children someday, because I won't look like an idiot playing with this stuff with my children. ;) I also saw the carrot plushie from the room set up, he was cute too.
I ended up purchasing two scrub brushes for dishes, two tea towels, an aloe vera plant, a pot, a set of tupperware, and a down queen comforter that would go in a duvet. IKEA is so fun! I think my Grandma and I spent about two hours there just looking around. You can easily spend two hours looking around. It is a maze of home furnishings.
After IKEA, we went to the HomeGoods store. I wasn't too impressed with what they had to offer. It was much too colorful, or blingy. IKEA's products are simple, not too flashy, and reasonably priced. I just was not very interested in the HomeGoods store. But to make up for it, we went to YoCream and grabbed some frozen yogurt. To be honest, I like TCBY better. YoCream was ok. I got four flavors, blueberry, original tart, chocolate, and cake batter; my toppings were M&Ms, and chocolate chip cookie dough. My grandma got the banana flavor, cinnamon roll, and cake batter flavor with cherries, raspberries, and toffee as her topping.
Oh my goodness, I want to go back to IKEA, and look around more. I am so sad that they do not have an IKEA in Pensacola. Good thing there is online ordering. :) Today was a fun day! It is always fun to spend the day with my Grandma Biggs. We are always adventurous.
