Homemade Bare Minerals
I am so excited to share this makeup DIY! I have been wanting to do this homemade Bare Minerals powder for a few years now actually. When I first came across this recipe, I didn't want to go out and buy French green clay, I didn't even know where I could find it! Well, a couple of Summers ago, I purchased French green clay, and haved used it for facials since. I went back to the recipe of the homade Bare Minerals last night because I have been using just plain corn starch as facial powder lately. I remembered the homemade Bare Minerals contained corn starch, so I broke out the recipe again, and this time I had French green clay.
You can make homemade Bare Minerals basically with ingredients from your kitchen. The only out-of-the ordinary ingredient is the French green clay. You can purchase French green clay online for at a low cost. I ordered my French green clay from Walgreens for $7.
Corn Starch keeps the shine away all day. With regular powder, I am so shiny by the end of the school day, I have to powder before work, and then I also become shiny during work. Ever since I started wearing corn starch, I haven't had to powder except for in the morning when I first put it on. I didn't have to powder at all today wearing my new powder blend. The benefit of the green clay in the homemade Bare Minerals is to also absorb, but not just the oil, also the dirt. It helps clear up impurities, and revitalizes the complexion. The cocoa powder is to help add color to the powder to match your skin tone.
I used my new powder blend over the top of Pacifica Alight BB cream. I love Pacifica's products because they are vegan, and are all natural. They utilize botanicals in their cosmetics and beauty products. This BB cream has a highlighter mixed in, so it gives you a beautiful glow. I loved using my homemade Bare Minerals on top of my BB cream today.
I don't think I will buy powder ever again. This is a great, and cheap makeup substitute. My skin looks great just after one use. This is all that I will use from now on.
To make this super simple beauty DIY, you take about 3 to 4 tablespoons of corn starch, 3 to 4 tablespoons of French green clay, and about 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder. You can add more cocoa powder depending on how dark your skin is, and if you want the powder to match evenly. Mix it all up in a bowl, and then spoon or funnel it in another container that you will store the powder in. I mixed mine up in a mini mason jar, lidded it, and shook it up. I put the powder in a spice jar, and now it lives in my big makeup suitcase that I have.
Go check out the original recipe from Great Oak Circle. I made a few adjustments to her recipe, but this is wear the original recipe resides.
I hope you try this beauty DIY, and I hope it works for you like it works for me.
