Thanksgiving 2014
I love Thanksgiving! There is food, family, and crafts. This year, there was food, family, crafts, and work. When I first saw the schedule, and saw that I was working Thanksgiving, I tried to get out of it, but I am so glad I decided to work it anyway! It was a great day at work.
Beginning with this morning, I woke up, and did a stress free face mask. It actually helps relieve stress, and I believe that it paved the way for me to have an excellent holiday.
After the mask, I began the example of my craft. I do an annual Thanksgiving craft with my little cousins, and they enjoy it. I love crafting with those little ladies. We made hand turkeys, and the craft post will be up tomorrow, along with my Thanksgiving Part 2 post. The little ladies made excellent hand turkeys, we put them in the center of the table after we made them for the center piece.
Since I had to work, and my Aunt Shawna had to go tp her in-law's at 2:00, we decided to have Thanksgiving brunch so we could still spend time together. We decided to do fruit smoothies instead of fruit salad, to go along with our brunch.
This smoothie has no dairy, it has berries, bananas, ginger, dates, and essential oil of grapefruit, and lemon. It was fantastic! I have been trying to utilize essential oils every day, so to keep with my regimens of everyday essential oils, I decided to diffuse Thieves today to make the house smell like Thanksgiving. It was so cozy.
It was a treat having my great-grandpa Kirby here with us today, to eat the meal together, and he stayed to play a few games with my family, I had to bounce off to work. Our meal was awesome! We had ham, roles, green beans, yams, and cranberry sauce. It was delightful before work.
All in all, it was a wonderful, smooth Thanksgiving, and it went by way too quick. I am typing this before I have to head out again. I am babysitting for such an awesome family. The dad is at work, and the mom is going Black Friday shopping early with her friends. I should get going! I am taking a slice of pie with me ;)
Shortly after the meal, I had to go to work. I wasn't dreading it all, I was so excited. When I arrived at work, we were told that 61 people were not attending the dinner this evening. We had enough tables for everyone who was attending to fit in only one seating! It was crazy, and super fun. We met some guests of the residents, and poured cider for them, refilled their coffee cups, and served them dessert. I had the pleasure of working with some awesome people this evening. A smooth day at work makes working the holiday amazing. And the dining room looked so festive.
After work, I came home to a lovely, delicious slice of Hershey Bar pie. I gobbled that piece up, but attempted to savor it because it is just so darn good. I love Hershey Bar pie. I will have to put the recipe up on the blog soon.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Stay safe while Black Friday shopping if you participate in that.
