My Favorite BB Creams

What is BB cream? It is the makeup sensation that has recently taken cosmetic companies by storm. BB cream was actually created in the 1960s by a German dermatologist, Dr. Christine Schrammek. She created the formula to help protect her patients' skin after dermatological surgeries, or facial peels. There are so many BB creams out now that do many different things, and have different textures. Before I started using BB creams, I figured that it was the texture of balm, like a thicker, clay like facial coverage. BB cream, at least in the Western world stands for beauty balm, so I had this expectation about it. Some BB creams are clay like, like the first BB cream I ever tried from Tarte Cosmetics (not shown in this post). Along the way, I have collected several BB creams, and I have most of them on my favorites list. 

Beginning with the Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay BB cream. I unfortunately don't have the bottle because I had a sample size a while back, but it is good to mention it because it is one of my favorites. 

I love the coverage it gives me, and while it makes me look like of washed out, it covers all of the things you don't want seen. To solve the washed-out issue, just add a dab of blush or cream blush to your cheekies and you won't look so much like a ghost. I will purchase the full sized so I can give a proper review. 

The next favorite is from this amazing, vegan cosmetic company called Pacifica. Pacifica is such a beautiful company that is against animal cruelty and they donate money to and support clean water. This Multi-Mineral Alight BB cream does the highlighting for you. It also primes for you, and goes on smooth. I also don't have to worry about my pores clogging from this BB cream. It is a great product, and I feel so pretty when I wear it. It has no harsh chemicals, and keeps your skin hydrated naturally.  Of course, the packaging is something beautiful too. This is one of my absolute favorites for facial makeup. Period. 

This one is pretty new to me. I have heard great things about Physicians Formula BB cream. I love Physicians Formula cosmetics, and I can't believe I haven't tried this before! It is a little oily at first when it is applied, but it quickly is absorbed and it leaves your face looking so clean, so pretty, and so smooth. The Super BB cream offers more than ten beauty benefits, including being it's own primer, it works as a concealer, it protects from the outer elements, it moisturizes, and so much more. It brightens dull skin as well, and the facial coverage is fantastic. The coverage isn't as great as Tarte's Amazonian Clay BB Cream, but it is great for a drugstore buy. I am actually wearing The Super BB Cream in these photos. 

Dr. Jart+ BB cream is quite legendary in the cosmetic culture. Dr. Jart+ has many different types of BB cream, but I happen to have the Premium Multi-Action Beauty Balm with SPF 45. With this BB cream, you don't have to worry about applying it to your face if you have skin issues (blemishes to be more specific). The Korean BB cream is known to not clog pores, but to keep skin hydrated, and to brighten skin. Dr. Jart+ is dermatologist tested, and they are also against animal cruelty. What I like about Dr. Jart+ is that I don't really need to use a lot of the BB cream, and I don't have to use powder over it. It is a rockin' makeup product! 

The last one is from The Body Shop, and it is actually the second BB cream that I have every tried. I am a big fan of The Body Shop because they are an eco-friendly cosmetic company, and they are against animal cruelty. They also have vegetarian makeup products, and that makes me feel better about what I am putting on my face. I don't want questionable ingredients on my face, it is a little disturbing. It is a little liquidy at first, but once it is applied, it looks great. You only need a little bit, because a small amount goes a long way. I like this for natural makeup days, or for days I am just going to work and nowhere else, or doing a very minimal amount of outside-the-house errands.
